Celebrate World Oceans Day with us, this year’s theme is Planet Ocean: The Tide is Turning.
We look forward to seeing you on 8 June 2023 in Venice at Palazzo Zorzi, seat of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, to take part in the free activities organized by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC/UNESCO) to raise awareness of the importance of the ocean.
Let’s celebrate with us the World Oceans Day 2023, the theme of the year is Planet Ocean: tides are changing.

Ocean&Climate Village
The temporary exhibition Ocean&Climate Village dedicated to understanding the relationship between the ocean and climate will be on display on June 8, 2023 from 10:00 to 18:00 at Palazzo Zorzi. The exhibition will also feature the interactive installation Feel the Change.
The visit to the exhibition and the installation is free.

Visiting the exhibition and installation is free of charge.
Discovering Venice and the sea, between architecture and history
A tour organised in collaboration with Venezia da Vivere to discover the city and its relationship with the sea starting from the architectural elements that characterise it. The free tour is limited to 20 participants.
Screening of the documentary “Lagunaria” and debate.
Screening of the documentary ‘Lagunaria’ by Giovanni Pellegrini, and produced by Ginko Film in 2022. Following, there will be a debate with the presence of:
- Giovanni Pellegrini, director
- Francesca Santoro, Ocean Literacy IOC/UNESCO
- Filippo Perocco, composer
- Daniele Brigolin, lecturer of ecology at IUAV
- Raffaele Maddaluno, anthropologist
The documentary presents a voice from a distant future that recounts the eras traversed by Venice, a mythical vanished city that somehow tells the story of all cities on Earth.
The documentary will be screened in Italian with English subtitles.
