Ocean&Climate Village, the IOC/UNESCO traveling exhibition on ocean and climate, arrives at Castel dell’Ovo, Naples, from 6 to 12 March 2023

At Castel dell’Ovo, from 6 to 12 March 2023, Ocean&Climate Village arrives, the first interactive and educational exhibition dedicated to the ocean and climate of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO created in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Naples and thanks to the support of E.ON Italia and the technical partner Grifal. Ocean&Climate Village is an interactive exhibition conceived as part of the Decade of Marine Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) with the aim of exploring issues related to the close connection between the ocean and climate.

In addition to being a physical space, the exhibition is also a meeting platform that aims to promote debates on the protection and regeneration of marine ecosystems and related biodiversity, but also to address issues related to the blue economy, innovation and design.

Ocean&Climate Village is an event accessible free of charge upon reservation and is dedicated to families, schools and a more general public. Those who wish can also participate in guided tours that will include workshops developed in collaboration with the Institute of Marine Sciences Ismar-CNR and with the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn and the students of the Federico II University of Naples.

The exhibition will be enriched by many contents and collateral activities such as debates, videos, insights to reflect on current issues related to the protection of the ocean and the sea and the islands in front of the city of Naples.

The exhibition will be hosted at the Sala Italia of Castel dell’Ovo, under the patronage of the Municipality of Naples, located on the ancient Islet of Megaride and symbol of the history of Naples.

During the itinerant journey of the Ocean&Climate Village, many are the partners and academic, research and private bodies that have immediately embraced the idea of ​​the Ocean&Climate Village and contributed in various ways, such as Ca’ Foscari University, IUAV, ISMAR-CNR, E.ON, Prada Group, Panerai, Grifal and the University of Milan-Bicocca.

A project implemented by: Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC/UNESCO) and the Regional Bureau of Science and Culture of Venice as part of the Decade of Marine Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021 – 2030) with the patronage of the Municipality of Naples and the scientific collaboration of ISMAR-CNR, Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn, Ca’ Foscari University, IUAV, CORILA, University of Naples Federico II.
