Restoration of Posidonia oceanica meadow in Mondello
The first pilot project was born in the Gulf of Palermo, in Mondello, thanks to the collaboration with the biologist Antonio Scannavino.

Initially, the beached Posidonia cuttings are collected and then grown in special tanks. Subsequently, a suitable area is identified (through specific research) in which to plant the new meadow.
Once planting has taken place, there is a monitoring phase, also to study the adaptation and reaction of marine fauna: if the result is positive, it will be possible to move the project to other areas.

The project involves the local community, such as fishermen and experts, but also many students, who will take part in educational courses on the importance of this plant for the health of the seas and the coast.
