Ocean Generation: designing for the ocean to know it, love it, protect it.
For the 2020/2021 academic year, teacher and designer Marcello Ziliani and his collaborator Mattia Vettorello decided that the third-year product design workshop at the University of Design San Marino would explore a wonderful, mysterious and threatened world: the ocean. During the workshop, which focused on the use of the principles of Design Thinking, boys and girls found themselves faced with countless questions about the ocean, trying to discover and delve into its fundamental problems, then explore innovative ideas and finally develop projects aimed at safeguarding various aspects connected to the ocean system.
A path that involved the involvement of professionals and experts, the acquisition of knowledge, data, statistics, the exploration of alternative and unexpected paths and the construction of an honest answer to one or more problems.
As a result, ten projects emerged, very different from each other, all dense and “open” at the same time, some of which were exhibited at the Ocean&Climate Village.
