The first edition of the Oceanthon, the digital hackathon completely on the sea, took place from 9 to 11 October. Young talents competed for 48 hours on three challenges linked to two of the concrete results envisaged by the Decade.
Each team developed innovative ideas as prototypes of scalable and replicable applications, using innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, development of oceanographic data collection systems, and sustainable material production systems. Each proposal was composed of a strong component of communication, stakeholder involvement and behavior change to demonstrate that science is at the service of society.
Blue Eco line – River Cleaner was elected as the winning project of the Oceanthon 2020. The project consists of a system capable of preventing marine pollution from plastics, combining industrial automation, IoT and artificial intelligence.
