An event organized by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe.
The event sees the awarding of the young woman winner of the first edition of the Donna di Mare Award 2022, an award promoted together with the Donne di Mare Association and the B-Women Network and dedicated to young women committed to protecting the ocean and belonging to different fields: from science, to education, to art and culture. This initiative is approved as an accredited activity by the United Nations Decade of the Sea. The event is also an opportunity to present the new interactive portal of the Decade of the Sea dedicated to the Mediterranean (which is the one you are browsing right now). The portal brings together in a single platform educational resources, events, activities, projects and initiatives in which society can actively take part or can use as a point of reference to inform themselves and develop concrete actions to find solutions to the challenges that the sea is facing today.
Finally, the event presents the new initiative Blue Tales: great marine research told to children, transforming scientific articles into tales to inspire the next generation of scientists, explorers and sea researchers.
