{"id":82,"date":"2024-10-08T13:50:31","date_gmt":"2024-10-08T13:50:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oceandecademed.org\/en\/en\/projects\/woman-of-the-sea\/"},"modified":"2026-08-13T12:45:21","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T12:45:21","slug":"woman-of-the-sea","status":"publish","type":"odm_project","link":"https:\/\/oceandecademed.org\/en\/projects\/woman-of-the-sea\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman of the sea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A competition aimed at young women who care about the environment and the challenges that involve our Blue Planet.<br \/>Organized as part of the <a href=\\\"https:\/\/oceandecademed.org\/en\/\">Decade of Marine Sciences for Sustainable Developmen<\/a>t (2021-2030) by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, by B Women Italy and by the Donne di Mare association, the Woman of the Sea Award was created to <strong>propose an innovative vision of activities, including entrepreneurship, by women who, in compliance with rights and equal opportunities, protect the environment by enhancing territories and people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The award supports ideas in various macro-areas of our society: research, art, cooking, entrepreneurship and education. The<strong> call involves and collects different categories of products and services, such as multimedia, graphic and photographic products, research projects, educational projects, to name a few examples.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seven women, with seven different professional skills and careers, have put themselves on the line by dedicating their work to the sea. For this reason, they have been selected as spokespersons and role models for the Woman of the Sea Award, representing all seven of the expected outcomes of the Decade.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"ratio ratio-16x9\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Donne di Mare\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>With this award we put at the center the fundamental role of women and the sea and the Woman-Sea relationship, to bring out the possibility of a new vision of Italian entrepreneurial activities, with a feminine, sustainable and lasting connotation that, like the sea, can be for and of everyone.<\/p>\n<p><cite>Francesca Santoro, IOC-UNESCO Programme Specialist<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The presence of a plurality of female experiences and skills are the aspects that characterize the two promoting associations, while UNESCO has among its global priorities the promotion of gender equality, together with the achievement of the <a href=\\\"https:\/\/oceandecademed.org\/en\/decennio-del-mare\/\">seven concrete results of the Decade of the Sea.<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"c-accordion py-100\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-12\">\n               <\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-12\">\n<div class=\"c-accordion-item js-dropdown\">\n<div class=\"c-accordion-item_title\">\n            Objectives and themes          <\/div>\n<div class=\"c-accordion-item_content\">\n<p>Focus on the woman-sea relationship to bring out the possibility of a new vision of Italian entrepreneurial activities, with a feminine, sustainable and lasting connotation that, like the sea, can be addressed to all citizens. The Woman of the Sea Award aims to <strong>create a new model of trans-sectoral and trans-territorial organization capable of addressing environmental and social<\/strong> challenges as essential elements to achieve sustainable development, carrying forward the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aics.gov.it\/home-ita\/settori\/obiettivi-di-sviluppo-sostenibile-sdgs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/a> promoted by the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>The project submitted must consider <strong>one of the following macro themes<\/strong> in its implementation:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The sea is (and) women<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>The fundamental role of women<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>The fundamental role of the sea<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-12\">\n<div class=\"c-accordion-item js-dropdown\">\n<div class=\"c-accordion-item_title\">\n            Come partecipare          <\/div>\n<div class=\"c-accordion-item_content\">\n<p>The call is aimed at <strong>young women between 18 and 30<\/strong> who care about the environment, especially the challenges that involve our Blue Planet. The call involves categories such as education, research, entrepreneurship, cooking, art and many others. If you care about our sea and want to immerse yourself in a concrete commitment you can do so by participating in this call, with multimedia, graphic and photographic products, research projects, educational projects and many other forms of collaboration.
